Vaccines work with the body's natural defenses to help it safely develop immunity to
diseases. Adolescent vaccines offer life-saving protection from serious
diseases, including: whooping cough (pertussis), diphtheria, tetanus,
meningococcal, and human papillomavirus.

Data Sources
- Minnesota Immunization Information Connection (MIIC) immunization information system.
Data Notes
- MIIC data may underestimate the actual percent of adolescents receiving vaccines because: (1) health care provider participation in MIIC is voluntary, (2) the MIIC population may include adolescents who have moved, and (3) cross border-state immunization data exchange is limited to Wisconsin and North Dakota.
- The MIIC population used to calculate adolescent immunization rates is all individuals ages 13 years and 19 years in MIIC.
- To protect privacy, MIIC subpopulations of 10 or fewer are displayed on the map in white, indicating “data not shown.” These subpopulations are also indicated by two asterisks (**) in the table and pop-up window.
- 2023 Data: Vaccination coverage among adolescents ages 13 and 19 years in MIIC. Includes adolescents born July 2009 through June 2010 who were up to date at age 13 years and adolescents born July 2003 through June 2004 who were up to date at age 19 years. Data analyzed as of July 2023.
